| Michelle Turner, founder of North Shore Lactation, is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Long Island University in 1992 and received her MA from New York University in 1998. Michelle Turner is a Fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, the Long Island Lactation Consultant Association, as well as, the Long Island Doula Association, and has lectured at Mount Sinai Medical Center on lactation topics. Michelle Turner has 15 years of pediatric experience which includes working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, working at Mount Sinai Medical Center in the Pediatric Hepatology/Liver Transplant division, working as a primary care provider at Family Health Associates, Mount Sinai of Queens, and most recently working at the offices of two prominent pediatric practices on Long Island. During her career, Michelle has demonstrated a special interest in infants and early childhood, she has assisted many new mothers and babies with breastfeeding issues, and completed her lactation training and clinical work at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Throughout her years in pediatrics Michelle Turner has developed strong ties in the Pediatric community and has a wide variety of resources available to her. Most importantly she values the tremendous support she has received and professional friendships she has developed with board certified lactation consultants and pediatricians in the area. As a mother of 3 fantastic girls, including twins, Michelle is in a unique position to understand the challenges women face trying to breastfeed in the midst of normal day chaos, returning to work and trying to parent each child individually. She brings a high level of patience and understanding and is compassionate to each woman's situation. |
