North Shore Lactation-Breastfeeding Support

North Shore Lactation was founded to service the needs of breastfeeding
mothers in Long Island and Eastern Queens.

Many women and babies are discharged from the hospital within 48-72
hours of delivery, before breastfeeding is well established. The ratio of
breastfeeding mothers to Lactation Consultants is overwhelmingly high
and with the increased awareness of the benefits of mother's milk more
women are initiating breastfeeding. Research has shown that early
support and assistance will influence the duration of breastfeeding.

Our goal is to provide high quality support, guidance, and education to
families interested in making breastfeeding a part of their lives. By
providing support with patience and compassion, and in a relaxed
atmosphere, we can help mothers and babies find their own rhythm that
will lead to a comfortable and memorable breastfeeding experience.

North Shore Lactation understands the real-life challenges many women
face, and respects every mother's effort to breastfeed. Our goal is to
provide mothers with accurate information and individualized support to
bolster their decision to breastfeed.
